How does one become a recruitment consultant?

Unfortunately the profession of recruitment consultant does not enjoy any form of legal status. In other words, anybody is entitled to call himself a recruitment consultant, irrespective of his experience, knowledge or ethical principles.

We are therefore very selective in choosing our consultants. As a rule, we train our consultants with an eighteen-month trainee programme for graduates, or a six-month executive programme for those joining from other fields. During this period, they learn the tools of a recruitment consultant and all the basic techniques for executive search, conducting interviews, reliable assessment of candidates, etc. They then run their own projects, but in the case of new entrants, invariably in cooperation with a senior consultant.
